Golden light on the hill.
A LITTLE WALK. YOUR OWN WORLD.
A blank map. A first step.
A walking app that turns familiar streets
into little adventures.
01 Leave a trail
Tap record and just walk. Every road you haven’t walked before counts toward your pioneered distance, drawn onto the blank map one line at a time.
02 Your map grows
Paths grow thicker and darker with each visit. The way to work, the little detours. Over time, a picture of your everyday world begins to emerge.
03 Keep
Pin a favorite find along the way with a photo and a note. Photos become cards that remember the time and exactly where you took them.
04 Collect
Every municipality you step into joins your collection as its own outline. You can tell a well-walked town from one you only brushed past.
NOT JUST STEPS. YOUR FOOTPRINT.
Every road you walk becomes your map.
Somewhere out there, a blank corner is waiting.
TRY IT — Take a little walk here
Tap the map and you’ll walk there. Only the roads you walk while recording are drawn onto the blank map.
NOT JUST STEPS. YOUR FOOTPRINT.
Take the next street over. Turn a corner out of curiosity.
Little detours, coming together into a map only you could make.
Every path you haven’t walked before counts toward your pioneered distance. Roads are matched on a 12-metre grid, so walking back and forth isn’t counted twice.

FAQ
PlainWalk is a walking app for iPhone and Android that draws only the roads you actually walk onto a blank map. Roads you walk for the first time add up as your pioneered distance, and roads you take often grow thicker. It is free to start and needs no account.
It is the length of road you walked for the first time. Roads are matched on a 12-metre grid, so walking the same street back and forth is not counted twice. Your total unlocks ten ranks whose milestones are real distances, from a marathon (42.195 km) to the Moon (384,400 km).
Everything stays on your iPhone and is never sent to a server. You can optionally back up to your own iCloud. Only the walks you choose to put on a shared blank map are shared with the people who can open that map.
Yes. PlainWalk uses background location only while a walk is being recorded, and you can check your distance from the Lock Screen Live Activity, the Home Screen widget, or your Apple Watch. It works with the “While Using” location permission.
The blank map, records, statistics, pioneer ranks, and collecting area badges are free (the free app shows ads). PlainWalk Plus adds 14 map colours, trail and photo-pin styles, coats for the cat that walks with you, automatic recording when you head out or leave home or work, Apple Health workouts drawn on your map, area badge details and town replays, your own LUTs in the camera, sticker finishes, several flags in the order you choose, map outlines, and fonts and papers for your notes, and removes ads. Plus is a monthly or yearly subscription, or a one-time purchase.
Yes. PlainWalk imports GPX and TCX files, so past walks exported from Strava, Garmin, and others can be drawn onto your map. With PlainWalk Plus, outdoor walks, hikes and runs in Apple Health can be drawn too. You can also see how your GPX files would look, right in your browser. GPX to blank map →
Yes. PlainWalk is on Google Play (Android 10 or later). The core is the same as on iPhone: the blank map, pioneered distance, Spots and area badges. Shared blank maps and the Apple Watch app are iPhone only. About the Android version →
